Trust Automation is a fast growing company in San Luis Obispo, CA. We are seeking a Configuration Management Specialist to join our team.


This role establishes and maintains ERP system and configuration database for item masters, product structures, bills of material (BOM's). You will work directly with the Manufacturing Engineering Manager and other members of the team to execute the company's Configuration Management strategy. Requirements & Responsibilities

Activities include developing the user interface from the model structure to give end users access to customer requirements gathering &  product selection for appropriate and valid configurations. Prototype, test, evaluate and  review: ensure the ERP system consistently, accurately and efficiently achieves the expected results to guide users to appropriate and validate configurations. Research, establish and maintain solutions for custom and/or special  engineering product requests as it relates to bills of material structuring, drawings,  customer parts and costing. Support the Customer Service function as it relates to  researching inquiries on product applications and service parts. Prepare monthly reports requested by supervisor and/or management. Responds and solves BOMs and/or model issues in a thorough and expedient manner, ensuring our customer needs and expectations are met.

A successful candidate will have:

  • BA or BS degree in a technical or business related discipline
  • 2-5 years' experience in creating and managing BOM's in a high tech manufacturing or engineering environment
  • Direct experience in process documentation/improvement 
  • Demonstrated understanding of BOM hierarchy, including hardware and software components
  • Demonstrated understanding of product release cycle as it relates to the creation and change management of parts and BOM structures
  • Experience using an ERP system for manufacturing applications
  • Must have experience working in a Windows environment and have a high level of skill with Microsoft Office.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to analyze and interpret engineering documentation and drawings and convert information into product logic and BOMs 
  • Must have a thorough understanding of product structure, database logic, and general manufacturing processes. A working knowledge of engineering and shop floor control is desired
  • Must be open to new concepts, ideas and embrace continuous change and demonstrate the ability to self-teach
  • Proven ability to work with and influence peers and management and facilitate agreement among stakeholders with different interests
  • Proven track record of complex and creative problem solving and the desire to create and build new processes
