Trust Automation is hiring for a Soldering Technician. THIS IS A PART-TIME, TEMPORARY POSITION.  

This role performs clean, efficient and highly reliable surface mount and through-hole component replacement, repairs and modifications and repairs to PCB's. You will work directly with the Manufacturing Engineering Manager and other members of the team to support the department needs.
Responsibilities & Requirements
Activities include performing a wide variety of electronic or electro-mechanical rework tasks in support of engineering and service requirements. Work from rough schematics, blueprints and oral instructions to repair or modify assemblies, sub-assemblies and components. Installs engineering directed change orders (ECO's). Perform surface mount and through-hole soldering, sometimes under a microscope. Melt and apply solder along adjoining edges of workpieces to solder joints, using soldering iron. Melt and separate soldered joints to repair misaligned or damaged assemblies. Adjust mechanical parts, using hand tools and soldering iron. Perform rework and quality testing. Perform repairs in accordance with appropriate Quality Standards and industry soldering practices. Will be expected to perform new product development support; build prototype PCB's and assemblies utilizing marked-up drawings and schematics. Inspect work to ensure accuracy and quality. Accurately enter/document all work performed on product within the ERP system to ensure accurate recording of inventory consumed and work performed. Work frequently includes interaction with development and/or design and manufacturing engineering personnel.
A successful candidate will have:
  • High school diploma/GED
  • Associates degree desired
  • Minimum 3-5 years hands-on experience performing PCBA rework and repair using hand soldering and desoldering tools to the component level
  • Good manual dexterity
  • Must have ability to read and comprehend standard engineering documentation such as: schematics, BOM's, wiring diagrams, mark-ups and assembly drawings.
  • Must possess exceptional surface mount and through-hole PCB rework skills
  • Experience performing single, multi-layer, and through hole soldering
  • Experience working with microscope while soldering 
  • Ability to remove and replace fine pitch components (E.g. TSOP, QFP, SOIC) without damage to the PCB or components.
  • Consistently produce high work quality
Candidates with the following Qualifications/Certifications preferred:
  • J-STD-001 Soldering Standards and Specifications
  • IPC-A-610 Acceptability Standards
  • IPC-7711/7721 Rework, modification and Repair Process Standards
  • NASA STD-8739 Soldered Electrical Connection Standards
