Trust Automation, a fast growing company in San Luis Obispo which designs, builds and supports control and power management systems for the most demanding defense, semiconductor, industrial automation, green technology and medical applications is seeking an IT Help Desk Technician to join our team in San Luis Obispo, CA.  We are looking for a problem solver who is customer focused, innovative, energetic, motivated by team success and able to adapt to new processes and procedures quickly while navigating a high volume of requests.  You must have a passion for solving basic to complex and interesting problems, while being adaptable as you encounter a variety of technology issues.

What's Cool About This Job:

You will directly contribute to Trust Automation's success by providing 1st level computer and technical support to Trust Automation's employees who require assistance with their information technology tools. 

What You Will Do:

Besides playing an integral part to Trust Automation's growth and success, you will provide first level technical support to the engineers, designers, manufactures, and support employees of Trust Automation.  You will ensure all IT equipment and infrastructure are running at optimal performance.  Success in this position will be achieved through communication, organization and the ability to drive projects and problems to resolution.

  • You will be challenged with activities which include first-level troubleshooting on computer workstation software and hardware, VOIP telephone, network, operating systems, network and firewall appliances, printing and internet access problems.
  • You will create accounts and configure hardware, perform updates, repairs, upgrades, backups and other maintenance tasks. Install, configure, and support the organization's networks.
  • You will maintain and configure Layer 2/3 network topology including firewalls, systems, applications, security and network configurations.
  • You will also have the opportunity to participate in projects that support changing business or IT requirements.

What You Need For This Position:

  • Coursework in Information Systems or Information Technology.
  • 1-3 years relevant experience in a Help Desk support role.
  • Working knowledge of Windows Operating Systems 7 and 10, Windows Server 2008, 2012 and Active Directory, and Apple iOS (iPhones, iPads, iMac).
  • Excellent technical aptitude, written and oral communication skills, and the ability to prioritize and deal effectively with people at all levels and in different situations.
  • Applied knowledge of Microsoft Office and asset inventory programs.
  • Knowledge in networking, routing and switching, firewalls, virus protection.
  • Past experience setting up and troubleshooting PC's, laptops, tablets, printers, workstations, computer peripherals, file sharing and software applications.
  • Proficiency in performing configuration, installations, upgrades and backup/recovery.
  • Experience prioritizing and tracking problems and resolutions using a help-desk ticket system such has JIRA or FreshDesk.
  • Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical staff.
  • Strong customer service skills, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Demands:  

  • Must be physically fit enough to regularly lift up to 30 pounds unassisted for duties such as unpacking and installing computers and equipment.  Must be able and comfortable with kneeling, bending, crawling under desks and working in small areas.
