Trust Automation, a fast growing company in San Luis Obispo which designs, builds and supports control and power management systems for the most demanding defense, semiconductor, industrial automation, green technology and medical applications is seeking an Electronic Repair Technician to join our team in San Luis Obispo, CA.  We are looking for a problem solver with strong troubleshooting skills in both analog and digital circuits. Programming and surface mount soldering skills are a bonus.  You must have a passion for solving basic to complex and interesting problems, while being adaptable as you encounter a variety of repair issues.

What You Will Do:

Besides playing an integral part to Trust Automation's growth and success, you will challenged with activities which include: Perform testing, repairs and refurbishment/upgrades on products

  • Simulate, trouble-shoot customer's issue, repair or replace the device in a timely manner
  • Flexibility in working on multiple and different products/technologies with changing priorities
  • Communicate status of testing with manager and other departments as necessary
  • Provide detailed symptom descriptions for failures uncovered during functional test and calibration
  • Record and maintain RMA parts inventory accurately through the ERP
  • Collect and properly document product quality issues to maintain its accuracy
  • Coordinate and collaborate return processes with Tech Support, Shipping and Customer Service departments 
  • Perform data analysis and generate daily and monthly RMA reports
  • Evaluate quality of product to determine if product is good to restock or return to vendor
  • Record work performed, repair status, and transactions in ERP system as needed to preserve unit history and traceability.
  • Success in this position will be achieved through communication, organization and the ability to drive projects and problems to resolution.

What You Need For This Position:

  • Associate's degree in Electronics
  • 3-5 years of experience with electronics repairing and testing
  • Quality assurance and product return experience
  • Experience troubleshooting down to component level
  • Ability to verify assembly documentation accuracy, read engineering drawings etc.
  • Skilled with both manual and automated test equipment (oscilloscope, various meters, function generator, power supply)
  • Soldering experience desirable
  • Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and ERP (enterprise resource planning) software or demonstrated ability to learn to use an ERP.
  • Confident, proactive character, ability to take the lead in challenging situations 
  • Must possess a sense of team work, respect for other's efforts and a "can-do attitude.
  • Exhibit proactive attitude towards upholding quality standards, with a drive for continuous improvement and a dedication to providing customer satisfaction
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
